” decahedron of Q ” is a creative project on sexual minorities LGBTQQIAAP in echo to the Pride Parade in Hong Kong.
In societies mainly consisted of straight people, non-straight people face huge challenges and stress in facing their authentic self and people around them as different sexual orientations are not yet accepted by the mass. Through the endeavour of LGBT organizations, the community starts to know more about the sexual minorities and starts to reflect on the traditional values towards relationships and marriage, more people start to understand and embrace the non-straights around them. It’s still a long way to go, as many only consider heterosexuality as normal.
Yet apart from LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender), there are still other varieties that are less known by the mass.
The term LGBT first evolved to LGBTQ with Q meaning Queer, then with a few more added: Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, Allies and Pansexual. Just as the more well-known LGBTs, we believe they should also be understood and embraced by the public, as no one should be judged by whom and how they love, as long as the love exists.
So, the project attempts to reveal more about these minorities and their ways of loving people through creative works. It might be songs, it might be lyrics, it might be literature and even movies. We welcome everyone to come take a look, you need not be one of the non-straights, we welcome you even more if you’re straight, because this IS exactly what we hope to see, more understanding and love and acceptance.
May all of us be able to love freely. After all, what really matters is LOVE.
